I recently got a folding Panasonic ebike at a garage sale for $200. It was actually very very nice as a folding bike.

The battery was locked in and there was no charger...so I unlocked the battery and took it apart. NiCads set up to run at 24v.

Taking off the rest of the housing would be a real pain but I put some li-ons in the pack, 7S 4p and the bike ran great.. it is pedal assist with

the motor mounted in the center assisting the pedals..so you have all the rear gears available.

This is the only info I could get on google regarding this bike.

I also added in a 20" front hub motor from an ebike-kit which was very nice...now going up the steepest hills are...no problem at all.

I was really wondering if I could overvolt the Panasonic motor to 36v so that I could simply use one battery for both motors going up hills so if anyone can help with suggestions or information as to how this can it done.. SAFELY.. I really don't want to take any chances with the center mounted motor..it is excellent..it would be appreciated.

Thanks

David

someone else on the board posted that they could run a max of 28-30v before the controller cut out.
you might have to check it out yourself. open up the drive unit to get to the controller board and look for the volt rating of the capacitors, fets, volt regulators. you might have to replace with 50v parts to safely run it at 36v.
Not sure how to get around the power cutout at 30v but on some controllers, changing a resistor does the trick.

Also, the motor is a brushless 3 phase, 5 wire Hall sensor type. So you can hook up another controller that can run at 36v and up. Just make sure you don't overheat the motor.
