I have a cheap cadence PAS and a cheap chinese controller. The PAS I'm using comes with a disc that has 8 poles. Everything was working fine until I changed my hub motor from a 200W to a 1000W motor.
Before, when I pedal forward, the PAS kicks in after one crank rotation and the motor runs forward. When I pedal backwards, nothing happens.
After changing the motor to the 1000W motor, the PAS works when pedalling in both directions. Pedalling forward gives consistent power from the motor after one crank rotation. Pedalling backwards is very inconsistent, it only works when I'm pedalling at a very slow speed, and stops when I speed up.
Why is my PAS working in both directions after changing the motor? How would a motor even affect the PAS in any way?
