hi all
i opened several thread, and read all of those discussing about handle bar mount cases.
most of them are about pelican 1300 and 1200. some about pelican im2075 and some mention the explorer 2717.
i build a 24s a123 20ah pack which has to fit inside. reading aotnet's great build thread i thought he was talking about 20ah batteries - he was not. those are 16ah batteries, which are 1cm shorter.
a a123 20ah battery is 227x166x7,2mm. 24 of them 240x165x175mm (board installed with clamps and balance wires)
the pictures shows the battery w/o top board installed to cover battery terminals.
internal size (copied from websites):
explorer 2717: 267x200x170
pelican im2075: 241x190x184
pelican 1300: 233x178x155
the only case those battery will fit easily is the EXPLORER 2717. a 16s type battery will fit very tightly w/o top cover installed. everyone has to decide how safe this is.
the im2075 would be ok as well, but w/o top cover as well. the space inside is just a bit too small to put the battery in w/o force. somebody may like that tough giving the battery some support that way.
here as some picture of comparison. i think i don't need to comment all of them, as it's easy to dertermine which is which:
pelican 1300: battery very tight fit, but can't close the lid:
explorer 2717: EASY fit. enough room to add some additional ps or enough room for screws to mount it
