Hello,

Well I think I might have damaged my fears on a drop off.
Heard a strange sharp cracking noise... almost like the electricity arcing (and I checked all my connections).
After that my motor had a very noticeable wherrr (?) to it and that noise you could here on deceleration too as the gears slowed down.
Got home and it seemed to drive ok still. but a little louder now on accel and decel.

Ordered a mettle gear from Lyen as he said just one metal gear will beef it all up.
He also said that usually only one gear seems to go.

Have not opened up the motor yet to see.
Even if the gears are ok, I want to change it out.

Need to learn to release the gas when getting air and on landings i guess.
Didn't seem like much up bump but it sure made a loud "crack"
checked all my components (batteries, controller) and everything looked tidy.
SO it had to be my hub.

Anyone know where to get a cassette removal tool that will fit over these big axles?
gotta get that off before I can open the motor.

Ebikes.ca has one.

Indeed, pics would be nice.
Need to open it up first.
Thanks, Amberwolf for the heads-up on Ebikes.ca - hope they have the right one.
I notice that there are a few variations of the nut that holds the cassette in place.
I have three mountain bikes and all three have a different internal shapes.

Anyway, Thanks!

I understand you have a BMC but they talk about the green gears and how they hold up under preasure.

Hope this helps

Usually those splines are the same for any particular brand of cassette. Some are even the same between brands (for instance my Suntour freehub's locking ring uses the same splines as all my Shimano freewheel cassettes). The most common type, especially among the cheap stuff that is often found as cheap Chinese copies especially if it came with a hubmotor, is the Shimano type. If you already had one of those, you could bore out the axle hole a bit wider and use it on most of the hubmotors that come with cassettes on them. :) It would also still work on your regular bike stuff.

If I had any rear hubmotors, that's what I'd do with the tool I have.

Oh, and FWIW, the same Shimano tool can also fit at least one of the BB crankshaft-nut splines I've run across, for removing the bearing cups/etc from the BB. Would only work if the hole was big enough for the crankshaft, but the splines fit. No idea what brand the BB stuff was.
