I don't respect your opinion and am not interested in engaging with you more.

Still it is true that tearing around putting others in danger and reducing how accommodating public space is to the public is inherently antisocial and something all those other people should have a say in. They/us should be able to say no to fractious toddlers/libertarians when their actions affect us.

It is also true that car drivers should be banished or put on the shortest possible leash before ebikers, but that is the tyranny of the antisocial self serving and murderous majority.

The largest threat my vehicles pose is to myself, and no one else. And that should be my choice. Yet I'm surrounded by idiots in much heavier machines who pose a much greater risk to others as well as myself than I do, yet I'm often portrayed as a threat to society for operating a vehicle whose ability to cause destruction is orders of magnitude less than the socially acceptable conveyances of the day. Go figure.

I disagree...Karen's usually have a driver's license, and experience driving vehicles. They KNOW what the rules of the road, and usually are not oblivious to your laws of physics. They are also under the reverse peer pressure than a 13 year old to be at least seen following the rules. My personal opinion is to only allow kids/adults capable of passing a driver's test of both knowledge and skill before allowing them on public roads.

I think individuals should be punished for behavior that is already illegal... for example, riding a surron ( unregistered ) on the street is already very illegal. Yet somehow these instances are used as a justification for stripping the ebike of it's functionality.

It feels like a smear campaign and reminds me of the smear campaign against Tesla in the 2010's.

A group that frequently likes the idea of throwing any competing transport under the bus for the sins of the few is big oil and big car. They have suppressed alternatives in the west for ages.

With light electric transport, you get the rare chance to slip underneath the fence of centuries of oppression by big money interests. You can also get exercise, which is nourishment for the body and mind.

I'm on team don't punish the class until there is no other option. And there are other options.

You are far not off, many years ago my daughter a new driver at the time had a near miss when driving to work, on a main road the car in front of her suddenly slammed the brakes on and yes she went into the back, about ten seconds later a police car came the other way with it's lights and sirens going. The police car then switched it's lights and sirens off, turned around and the officer checked my daughter and driver in the other car were OK, the female driver in the car in front said she panicked when she heard the police sirens and just stood on her brakes.

Oh I tried. I grew up in the American South. I could not make it stick for the same reason I could not stay with cars. They make no sense and they ruin a lot of otherwise humane things.

I now believe both things should be regarded and treated as mental illness even in the few cases where they are benign.
