I am wondering if it would be possible/simple to add a front hub to a 50cc scooter. Maybe use the throttle on the electric motor from 0-10, then move to the gas. The gas engine would be running the whole time. Would twisting the throttle at 10mph work? Any complications I'm not thinking of? Thanks for any insight!

Hybrid scooter sounds fun and yes it is possible, measure the distance between the forks where the axle is, rear hub motors are usually 135mm some are more, front hub motors are 100 or 110mm. Its not really a wise move imho, why do you want a front hub motor?

Why though, why do you want a 2wd scooter, if you want more power get a 100 or a 150cc scooter, your just going to add more weight to the 50cc scooter with your batteries and motor. What terrain are you riding, you riding beaches or deep mud and require 4x4 action in terms of 2wd scooter?

I thought it sounded cool :). Didn't really even think of adding a rear hub. Front hub might be easier to service should anything go wrong with the motor I imagine.
