I just came across this and am a little confused as to how it works. If it does work, it could be the ultimate in stealth, but I feel that any torque would push against your feet and make it harder to pedal.

It does seem a bit odd, like it would push you out of your seat unless you stood on them then they might rotate the crank. I would love to hear Miles comment on these!

There was another thread about them somewhere. I deduced that they would just spin themselves out of a normal crank. Maybe I am mixed up about it though.

If the motor in the pedals forced the pedal to push up towards your toes it would be spinning it's axle tighter into the threads when you resisted with your foot.. Even if you had to go the other way one way must tighten it on.

It can't be that powerful even in that large pedal but for just an assist a little bit it does look interesting.

I can see someone here threading the axle of a big outrunner with a pedal bolted epoxied to the can and putting it onto the right pedal with the wires run up their trousers to a controller and lipo in a backpack. That would be flinging your feet off the pedal power or crush your ankle if you tried to use power grips to hold on.

Yeah. Seems like it wouldn't have enough power to do much, if anything. I found the other thread.

Was going to comment but it was pretty much summed up by michaelplogue's post in the other thread, in my opinion it would do very little and notice how slow the rider in the video is going
