Project Interceptor, oil cooled Q100H@55V, in-frame battery

Here is my report after 1 year of use. Q100H is still going strong, but mosfets didn't like anything over 18A. 2 mosfets failed at 20A, so I guess their limit is there. Batteries are the biggest surprise, they work as they did the first day. Fantastic. My next S06S Frankenstein project will use better mosfets, in combination with higher voltage and 17A limit.

I'm running the Q100H 260rpm at 13s 20A no problems for 6 months now:

but mine isn't oil cooled or anything. Just out of the box

Fellow,thats a slick non-ebike look.no getting caught speeding with that. :)

I have to say, this is one of my favorite builds. I love how it came together. I trust that it is holding up well?

13s2p Panasonic NCR18650PF for batteries. I do like how higher capacity batteries are coming available, making small light weight 18650 battery builds possible while giving lipo weight/performance with small motors (that don't need tons of current).

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you both:). Yellow one is holding up well. Problems I had were faulty controller few months ago, and slight ATF oil leakage wich does not bother me.

Motor is untouched, I just unscrewed one of 6 disc screws, filled with ATF and used automotive grade silicon (for automatic transmissions) to seal those 6 screws. I have 3 Q100H, it leaks on some through the axle/bearing/inner races. I've never opened it, so I have no idea what it looks inside to be honest. No wires reinforcement. On my last ebike I use 75V, i prefer to increase the volts for torque instead of current as current increases heat and vibration ("pulsejetting/hammering"). At 20A+ and 54,6V, Q100H 201 rpm sounds unpleasent. Its fun for a minute, but tiresome for a longer rides. At 75V and 14A=1kw, motor is smooth.

I've never replaced oil, but I took an oil sample and it was grease contaminated. On my last Q100H 201 rpm, there is no leakage. Used 40ml there. I guess different baches of motors differ and leak more or not at all.

That makes sense.
I burned out some small controllers before I realized I was running them at their current capacity, and that when they got warm on the outside, they were too hot on the inside. I just took them out of the bag and attached to a heat sink (rear rack) and they are fine. It really only seemed to be a problem when running long distance (full throttle for an hour).

I wouldn’t expect the Q100 to have a hard time at that power level. Heat in the motor isn’t the biggest issue. From what I have experienced (and read), it’s the little controllers, and then the three phase wires that give out first for many people.

Interesting, I plan too oil cool my next build:

We need to meet up, so I can look how your motor sounds, behaves and drips :)

Oh, this is my old ebike and it is for sale now. If you want to see it drip or test drive it or my other ebikes you have to hurry upp:). You can PM me if you are in Malmö, I usually ride with a friend so we can organize a mini ES meeting.

I'm a process of building a 3kW 25Kg 100V mini monster with NCR18650GA cells, you can see that build live before anyone else;).

What is your top speed with load on the 72v one?
