Hey guys. Just stripped the motor and bits out of this bike. I have bought a 36v 800w motor and controller also bought the throttle..... I have some questions about power. I have spent no real money on this bike so far and don't wish to as its just a hobby project. I am looking at putting 48v at 30a into the motor (1400w) .I have bought 4 12v 7ah batteries that I will run in series. I am now thinking that these will not last long at all. Also I am unsure as to what charger to buy... As I said earlier.. I am looking at cheapest options for time being. Charger needs to be able to deal with 240v input as I live in Australia

Be careful about using that chassis without structural elements that replicate the function of the engine as a structural element.

Thanks, but the motor that was in it already produced more torque than what I am looking to do. I don't think I will need to improve structure.

I'd still put in a cross brace. Can't hurt. And probably help give you something to Mount batteries to

Mounted the motor and battery holder. I have some questions about charging, but will post later. I am still waiting for the throttle, but I am dead keen to hook the batteries to the controller and motor to see what happens

Hooked it all up and it worked straight away. The problem I have is that when I am sitting on it there doesn't seem to be enough torque to move, the engine just kind of grunts. I would have thought that a 36v 800w motor with 48v running through it would at least move me. The rear cog is also quite large so it should have torque. The bike isn't that heavy and I only weigh about 95kg. Should I kick 60v into it ? Please help

if the controller is good and the motor is also good then I expect its the batteries or wiring connections that is at fault. you need to have a voltmeter on the battery to see what the voltage drops to when you try yo throttle it.
