Got my Hakko 936 today !!!! :p
You'll be happy with it, I'm sure! I waited too long before buying mine, and I would never, never go back to regular irons now. I even made a copper bar tip ("T" shaped) that can desolder about 14 pins at once - great for IC removal!

Hi,

Which is the best choice for Ebike use?:

  • 936-11 small (Small Iron)
    936-12 medium (Medium Iron)
    936-13 large (Large Iron)

Also what is the "ESD Safe" feature?:
The Hakko 936 is ESD safe and is also available in a standard configuration without the ESD features.

I got these from AndyH - http://www.rechargeablelithiumpower.com/oscommerce2/catalog/index.php

PSI really can't be bothered with small orders, if you want a 1000 cells or get involved in resale of large scale ebike packs then sure.. I've emailed PSI and this is the bottom line. They are not equipped with sales and service agents yet.

Either way , if Andy can get enough of these moving, and keep fresh stock i support him all the way.. I much rather order from the US and pay paypal.. vs order from Taiwan and sent money Wires thru my bank..

I hear you on the US dealing.....but $38 a cell and 96 cells = OUCH! I'm waiting to see how the new Headways work out... about 1/2 the price.

Don't the Headway's have high internal resistance? So high in fact that they heat-up, according to one test a few months ago on this very forum.
I wasn't aware Headway had the same size cells as PSI, I've gotta pay closer attention.

Just a curiosity question on the 1000 quantity buys from PSI. Does anyone know what the per cell cost drops to?

I don't know the current price for a 1000 quantity buy from PSI. It might not be enough to make any difference, though.

It costs more than $3 to the cost of each cell to ship from Taiwan by air. Shipping (and per-cell) costs will come down with surface shipping, but we have to get to the 10,000 cell per order level to make it worthwhile. It costs about $3500 to rent a 20 foot container and have it shipped from Taiwan to California. And that's before we buy anything to put in the container, or pay duties and brokerage fees.

When Raymond was at PSI he quoted me $22 per cell at a qty of 96, plus $360 for shipping. I think he now works for Lifebatt which doesn't like to cell single cells and no one seems to have taken his place at PSI.

possibly because switzerland is not a member of the EU and so it is like a foreign country. different laws, standards, import/export, banking practices etc. make life complicated.

the rest of europe belongs to the EU and so all dealings between the member nations are well defined and simplified.

well shouldnt be any different than transfering to norway? done that a few times no problems at all. Other than the usual slow banks with their "stealing your money for a few days" procedures but thats the same when you transfer within the union.
