rail gun ebike motor

came up with an idea for a motor to drive a bike not sure if it will work, was messing with idea for a rail gun
which led to bike chain novel motor design

Interesting, but you would likely have to make the bike chain alternately magnetic and non, and have sensors to detect when each magnetic link begins to pass into the coil so that the pulse can begin pulling, and sense exit to end pulse so it doesn't pull it back.

Seems like it could be made to work though, but I doubt it would have any real power due to the size of the chain no?

the tech problems in building it are way beyond the rewards of making it work, each chain link has to be isolated from the others ( difficult to do), as each phase overlaps silghtly as per pic, it should work so as to start from any position.
the length of chain ( each side part) would be a short conductor which passes permanent magnets, true the power would likely not be large, the current would be high and voltage low, not a pracital device, I think extremely difficult to build something like this, was just a crazy idea that I think would work.
