Hi everyone, a good friend referred me to this board because, and I quote "This problem is too smart for you"

He's right, I can make assumptions all day but when it comes to lithium cells, to assume makes an a$$..... blow the f*** up? (still working on a version that rhymes)

Short story long I'm in the final stages of building an all electric dune buggy using a Golden motor 72vDC 10kW Water cooled BLDC (Impressive build quality aside from the output shaft being 3 thou out of round) and 3 x Tesla built 3kWh 24v cells in ran in series.

Should I be running a proper 3+ stage 72 volt charger, 3x 24 volt smart chargers to each cell or does the BMS manage charge cycles and should be supplied with either CC or CV power source?

I had no idea when purchasing these cells that they were quite rare and that information about them and their BMS would be as scarce as it is. I ran a search on your forum and found only one thread that relates to it but there's nothing much worth mentioning.

Here are a few pictures of the project and its components

It wont answer your charging question, but could save you some pain in other areas !

Thanks for the link, this buggy is not intended for road legal use and weighs in at 600lbs with motor and batteries so the load isn't excessive. Also the drive axle has been custom machined and the rear frame has been stiffened to support the extra torque. Also, the motor is water cooled and I'm running a 12v VW aux water pump off a pwm.

Charging is my main concern for now
