Razor escooter stuck going slow

I'm a total newbie in terms of electronics but I have my razor scooter since 2 years already. Never had a problem until now.
Yesterday I had to go through a puddle with it because of safety... When I got home I didn't plug it already to let it dry. after about 18hours I plugged it and the lights showed a normal charging as usual. Once I got on the scooter, it would not let me go fast even if the scooter indicated a full charge. Im afraid I did irreperable water damage Is there any safe way to check myself or should I bring it to a repair person? I'm in Canada, which professionnal or business usually repair these?
