iv seen sum $1000-$1200 models in bike shops but now big w australia is selling them off $500. $250 on sale right now
i know the components on the big w bike are shit but what about the frame is it the same

Diamondback mountain bikes are really awesome bikes. I would love to convert one electric wth a 48v battery. Good idea!

My 1990 to 1997 or so (non electric) experience with an entry level hard nose and tailed DB Topanga was very good overall. I finally wore out the rims and bearings after much "off" and "on" road use. This, and the fact that I destroyed the rear index shifter during a "DH" crash, was why I regretfully gave it away in 2004.

I wouldn't hesitate in buying another Diamondback product.

The mission bikes big w are selling are NOT the same as the overseas models. I too saw them and bought one thinking I'd upgrade the forks, throw on a set of hydros and have a good bang for buck full suspension ebike. Sadly the product they sell is not the same as the picture they advertise. The suspension linkage /shock combo is terrible and I couldn't even get 1/2 an inch travel out of it by jumping on it as hard as I could. Any squish I did feel was from the tyres. If you loosen off all the linkage bolts and wind the spring right out you can get it to move a little but probably still under 1"

If you like the diamondback brand buy one of their hard tails, you're essentially getting the same bike but with more triangle space.
I was hoping these big w spec bikes just had cheap add on components but it seems the frame / suspension linkage set up is no good either.
