Hi guys
Would anyone have thoughts on a rear motor mainly for top end and flat riding, to match with a 72v battery??
Its a 26" MTB and trying to get as much speed as possible.
The motor should be less than $1000.
I seen the MAC 6T has high RPMS. Any other reliable competitors?
I assume getting a 36V motor will greatly allow me to overvolt it to get the speed higher

Thanks!

Hi ebike11
I'm looking for a motor to run on 72v but would rather something with some torque. I would be happy with a top speed of 50 kph.
I'm in aus and it's hard to find a hub motor that would handle a higher power set up. There's heaps of cheapies on ebay but not sure if these would work.
I searched ebay America and there's some larger crystalyte motor's there but quite pricey. I'm new to ebikes so trying to learn what would work. What top speed would you want? What kind of battery do you have?

Hi
I already am getting 45-50kph with my Bafang..but being speed greedy I want faster haha
Yes I will look at the Crystalyte as well.

There's this.

Crystalyte HS4080.
2-2.5kw continuous, ~$500.

6T MAC will melt VERY fast.
8T MAC will melt in about 10-20 minutes or so.
10T MAC will take 72v, but will blow the clutch very fast and melt over a long ride... it's a 1kw motor.. It won't do 2kw continuous that it's top speed on 72v would allow.

If you don't want all the power of the HS4080, an external controller model magic pie on 72v would yield a nice 40mph and tolerate that power for quite a while, but also will melt over an extended journey; but will tolerate it for quite some time in short spurts of 1-5 miles.

Hi neptronix
I'm interested in a crystalyte hub motor with a 72v battery.
Does the 4080 come in different windings? I am looking for something with lots of torque but also don't want to lose to much speed hopefully 50-60 kph.
I was thinking of a 40 amp controller. Not sure what hub motor or controller to get there are so many crystalyte motor's and don't know how to tell them apart.
I'm new to ebikes so just learning ATM. I like the look of the samsung 18650 in the triangle pack from em3ev in 72 v.
Was thinking it might suit me as I think it's a bit safer than Lipo and the C rates aren't to bad.
Is the crystalyte 4080 one of the bigger motors from crystalyte?

The 4080 is a fast wind motor. The 40 stands for a 40mm stater. The 80 stands for 80 kilometers an hour running at 72 volt in a 26 inch rim.

The 40 series motors also come in 4065. http://www.crystalyte.com

For hot rod fun, you want a direct drive motor. The typical cheap 28mm wide motors like 9 continent and muxus can handle 3000w, 72v 40 amps for about 10 miles before they melt. This can make a cheap and fun bike that will just touch 40 mph when the battery is full.

But to go longer, or run faster at 100v, you need the wider stator. Cromotor, the really big crystalyte, etc. Or, some have had good results from two cheap narrow motors running 72v 30 amps each.

What would be the difference in torque between a crystalyte 4065 and 4080 at 72v?
Would there be a big difference? I'm now thinking of using a 4065 as I would rather have extra torque.
Which would be the more popular hub motor out of these two with people on here? I'm also having trouble finding the 4065 here in aus anyone know where to get them from?
Ben.

Re PRW, the cheap narrow motors are sometimes called 9 continent clones. So 9 continent, muxus, and others sold under various names. Some of the Golden motor models, Conhis, etc.

They have a pie pan size cover, and the magnet is 28 mm. Typical in direct drive kits on ebay that sell for pretty cheap if bought to be shipped from china. EM3ev sells them in several winding speeds, but typically you get a 7 turn. The 7 turn motors will just hit 40 mph with 72v and 40 amps.
