My pre-built ebike came with a screw on disc brake adaptor which bolts patern is 48mm (usually crap discs have 48mm patern). So i bought a screw on adaptor that has 44mm patern, so i could use my avid hs1 rotor, which is lighter, makes less noise, brakes better and wear off the pads slower than my current rotor. Problem is that the stock adaptor doesnt want to screw off. Im trying to unscrew it counterclowise. You can see the adaptor i'm talking about in the pictures below. Does anyone have any idea to help to get them off? I'll visit the bike shop tomorrow and see if they can get it off for me.

If you have a rotor that will bolt to it, put that on and it will give you more leverage to try to remove it.

Otherwise, if you have a long 1x4 or 2x4 piece of wood you can drill in the middle of, you could drill 2 to 6 holes to match the adapter, then one in the middle to match the axle (but larger so it can easily fit and rotate around it), and use bolts long enough to reach the adapter holes thru the wood, then you can use the wood as a torque bar to spin the adapter off.

Stillsons ;)

Be warned: Unless your 44mm adapter is a speciality ebike one, you will likely find the threaded bore is too small to fit your motor. I had this problem and ended up slotting the holes on a 44mm brake disc instead to make it fit the 48mm adapter.

The bike shop was able to remove the adapter. I figure out, after paying them for removing it for me, cheap though, the adapter will unscrew very easy if the wheel is still mounted. How? Simple: Adjust ur pads as close to the discs as possible, pull the lever as much as you can with one hand and use the other hand to spin the wheel backwards, its more likely gonna unscreww the adapter. To install again, add some thread locker and to the reverse. For those who are looking for a adapter that fits, i bought this new one on aliexpress for dirty cheap U$D 7.00 for TWO (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Disc...brake-bike/2034245846.html?spm=0.0.0.0.STK9v3) and they are very high quality. Also, they fit on the motor thread.

I would not use threadlock because it is self-tightening in use and it will make it harder to remove in the future.

I might regret this in the future, but we have some hight grade hills here, don't want to run the risk of unscrewing the disc while waiting for a red light uphill for example. Also, since this is the 44m pattern now, i don't think i'll have to remove it in the future.

What's done is done, but should you need to remove it again bear in mind that most types of threadlock can be released with moderate heat :)
