hi

just wondered if any crystalyte owners have got a reverse button on their handlebars?

there is a reverse key switch on my 35a controller.

why? what would happen if you were going full steam when you hit the reverse?

shorly you would just slowdown gradualy.

if you put it on a spring loaded push to make button, then you would have no problem with acidental pressing.

it would be a handy feature and could get you out of trouble occasionaly at junctions.

If you accidently hit the REVRESE switch while going forward, the motor will be undergo a PLUGGING mode. There will be a hugh current drawing from the battery side which will damage the FET in the controller. This will produce many time more current than that of regenerative braking.
Just imagine what would happen if you shift in REVERSE while driving forward in your car.

I tried it with my tiny 2 amp bench test motor. The thing almost jumped off the bench. It plugs with avengence since the motor current is not limited by anything other than the resistance of the wiring and the FETs.

If you hit reverse with a bike motor while moving, there's a good chance it will blow up something.

What you really want is regenerative braking.
