Hi

New to this forum, atleast just registered here (been reading alot), and got a question regarding rim/spokes for my first bike project.

Ive ordered a hs3540 crystalyte, thats going to be fed with 18s lipo and a lyen 12fet 3077. Going on a hybrid/city bike with rim brakes for now, but planning on buying a full suspension bike later.

Could someone pointed me in the right direction for 26" rim and spokes that handles some off road use? (Think full suspension bike, mostly trail/gravel road use)

A 28" rim/spoke setup for the hybrid would also be of interest, since it might take a while before i go for a full susp. Bike.

If someone has used a spesific rim and spokes, and know the dimension/lenghts to buy, it would be perfect!
I know i can calculate this, but i would prefer to order it now so i might get it soon (havent got my motor yet to take measurments).

Thanks

Select H series hub, then enter rim erd. Doesn't get much easier than that.
Another place for any hub/rim.

Thanks for the link, and yes it does seem very easy to use..

But i have to order a rim first (want too keep my stock wheel), to get measurmenst for spokes.. So i have to wait, and wait, and then wait some more.

So therefor i was hoping someone could guide me to a setup of rim/spokes they KNOW works :)

Ok, then since the dimensions on the HS motors and the motor I have are the same, a 26" Weinmann DH-39 (543erd) will work with 166mm spokes in a 1X pattern. This assumes you aren't going to dish the wheel a lot. If you dish it much, you may need half of the spokes to be 165mm and the other half 167mm.

Perfect, thanks. 12G spokes?

Anyone got a 28"/700c setup rim/spokes?

Don't do that, unless you really like loose spokes, cracked rims, and having to service your wheels often. Your best option is 14-15ga spokes from Danscomp.com: lowest price, top quality, cut to measure, and they'll stay tight while distributing forces evenly around the rim. Use washers under the spoke heads as necessary to accommodate too-large holes in the hub.

The best 700c rim for the money is the Alex DM18 (with 197mm spokes, 14-15ga cross-1) if you want to use narrowish tires (25-28mm) or Sun Rhyno Lite 700c (with 200mm spokes, 14-15ga cross-1) if you only want to use tires 30mm and wider.

Thanks for the heads up!

Ive read my eyes sore this last week, and still miss out on details like that. But i think im getting close now :)

Next will be to get my mind around the CA v3 i also ordered, and connecting the kit together when i get it.. Shouldnt be to hard.

There are 12ga spoke haters around and then there are those such as myself with over 15k on the inexpensive 26in Weinmanm DM30 rims with them without a single problem. My rims came from the factory drilled for 12ga. No loose or broken spokes or rims as yet, I travel 20-30mph on the pavement and a couple hundred miles on dirt roads as well some at high speeds. A good rim and decent wheel build with quality 12,13,14 ga spokes will be fine. If you are going to be doing allot of off-road you may want to check the wheel builds of others who have already done so. 700C 12Ga? probly Listen to Chalo on that one.

The motor has 3mm spoke holes. 12G spokes fit perfect. My rim was drilled for 12G spokes. I've got over 2 years and 8K miles on mine without a single problem. Match the spoke size to the motor and rim. Do it right with decent spokes and you won't have a problem either. These are the spokes I used.
