I am going to move the motor to the down tube just in front of the BB, using that cool truss element for support, to keep the chain where it should be (and shorter) and for lower motor mass. Then the Magura twist throttle, the gear changing assembly and all the electronics.
Coming is a fiberglass moto seat, pegs, and a battery mount...
The final drive chain needs an idler to keep it off the swing arm.
Back anodize everything

So I am recognizing a few things...like the ENO is not necessary because the DD has a freewheel built in (and I do not have to balance the drive with human power), and the motor mounting system seems a bit convoluted.

So this machine is going to move through a development phase and with your input it will come out the other end a sweet machine.

This would be the answer, How is the swingarm pivot assembled? have you got any pictures/dimensions. Im sure something can be sorted out to overcome this problem . After I have finished dicking around with the auto scoot conversion I am attempting I will like to have a crack at a full susser bike myself.

Been thinking of the area near the shock for pegs...so not keen to put a motor there...

Have been looking at the Brooklyn Machine Works Race Link bike for some time now. I think I even posted a pic of this bike on ES in the past.
And Hal, as I understand it, is working on a FS - drive through the swing arm pivot frame.

Motorcycles have had this problem from day one and seem to be OK. Has anyone seen an electric FS conversion that drives and pivots through two different centers? Has this worked or not?

In the best of all worlds I would drive through the pivot but for now I will give what I have a go.

Wanted to go to smaller wheels/tires...and tried 20" bicycle wheels. For my taste it looked pretty weird, as the RM7 is a BIG bike, the proportions were just way off...did not try really fat wheels and tires though...I am hoping not to mod the frame, forks or swing arm so going really wide may not work.

Going to get it rolling and then move into trying and exploring other wheel options - I really do like the wide tire smaller wheel look!

Thinking it's a street bike...at least for now...still have the knobby tires so once I get it going well I could try it off road.


Going to fab up a composite moto looking seat that just may clinch it as a street bike...don't know for sure yet. The seat might have the battery boxes built as an integral unit with the batt boxes as saddle bags in the area of the front triangle. I will make some aluminum boxes for the batteries that fit snugly into the composite structure. Maybe I can find a place for the controller and other electronics just below the batts???

When I come back from DC I will move the motor to under the down tube and get it running. Then stress the SRAM DD and if all goes well, work out any drive line issues.

Yes the ones i have seen that looked the business were 20in rims with 20x3in tires on them they look very moto-X bike

Could go 24" rims, might be a good compramise. I really like your motorcycle seat idea. I was thinking the same thing, and found the pocket bike seats on ebay are about $30 and might be the right size. I was actually thinking about putting the electronics all underneath the seat with an extended rear fender that also stored controller etc... I have to agree that freewheels would be unnecessary if you don't have pedals, heh? Are you using#35 chain? What about #219? Should be a real runner, I will be following the thread.

Roy, hope i didn't come across as pissy about the frame, i love your frame and be damn sure you have a lot more options for mounting than i do
tell me again why you don't try to run through the pivot for your drive as you dont need cranks i thought you'd mount pegs through the bb, would be easy to do no?

I have not had a proper workshop for some time now. But the good news is that I just moved and have a 2 car garage all to myself 8)
I think it will be a month or so before I get going in earnest but I have a number of projects in mind and of course the ES boys are such a great inspiration.

Nice build. Keep those pictures come . I'm also building a full suspension build from Matt's single stage drive. Matt says I should get it any day now. Did Matt custom make the mount for you too? I'm also interested to see how you plan to do the battery and electronics.

Still working on my workshop. Probably it will be another few months before I get started again.
Matt made the single stage drive being used as a mount only - no shaft. I made the aluminum mounting plates.
Planning to move the motor down to just in front of the BB and using a HV160 and LIPO at 48v & 20Ah.

is much cheaper than motoped. Okay, I can´t pedal but I could live with it. My first question is how to reduce the
rpm of Astrolight . Is there some kind of gearbox or is it what you call "jackshaft". Sorry but my english does not know
this word. Is there a picture of the complete"old" version of the RM7, where I can see the two chains?

There are many builds on this site using astro flight motors..........most of which use this forum members Recumpence reduction drive. Contact him via pm and he will set you up with a drive, motors, esc....etc etc everything you need to bolt onto a frame.

I myself have 2 of his drives (both twin 3220 astro powered) in my possesion and I have an active thread of my build in this section. There are many members on this site that will vouch for this drive setup, it may be expensive but it is (and everyone else that has seen one with thier own eyes will agree) worth every cent.

This project is dead. Thanks for asking though.

I will probably not (never say never ) do an RC build again.
It is a great chassis!!! Maybe I will put a BBS02 on it?
It's a very large frame - really too large for me.

Dude, this frame is phenomenal. Do you know which year this one is? If there's enough space for a triangle pack, and if it's possible to mount a BBS02, this could be a real killer.
