Hey guys! New user here...
So I’m new to the ebike world, but not new to electronics (and common sense...) and I’ve been doing a lot of research about hub motors, controllers, batteries, etc...
Mostly (I think...) I have all of the basics figured out. When it comes to batteries (volts, amps, a/hr, c ratings, etc) I have no questions. Hub motors (efficiency, windings, rated watts, wasted heat, hot rodding, hall sensors, phase wires, etc) I’m 80% there. Now when it comes to controllers, I got the basics (and a bit more...) covered but there’s something that I still can’t wrap my mind around when it comes to displays or lcds...
So here’s the issue:
I want to get a Sabvoton controller installed on my ebike, running @ ~60A, AND with a 750c display (I don’t want a CA, I just don’t like it...)
Now Amazon sells a Savoton that is 72v 150A, and it’s on prime, comes with the Bluetooth dongle too. Not a problem, I can limit it @ 60A through the app, but... IT DOESN’T COME WITH A DISPLAY OR THE CONNECTIONS FOR IT!!! Bummer...
Then Ali Express sells exactly what I need. Sabvoton 72v60A (smaller in size too, it’s the 60A model) with Bluetooth dongle and waterproof connections for a 750c display, brakes and throttle (julet t4). But we are talking about Ali Express, aka long shipping time, lost packages, no reasonable returns/warranty, and the risk of getting ripped off by the seller...
So I was wondering if it’s possible to rewire either the aviation connector on the outside of the 150A model, or to take it apart and wire a Julet (5pin only or t4 would be amazing...) connector to the board, so I can connect it to a 750c display...
My reasoning is that a 750c display (and similar 5 pin displays) have 5 signals: ground, 5v, batt+, rx and tx. To my understanding this 72v150A Sabvoton controller from Amazon comes with these signals, it’s just not wired with a julet connector (either a 5pin for display only or a t4 julet for display, throttle and brakes...)
