samsung 18650 -29e pack

Got a note on a great looking pack/case from General Electronics Battery using Samsung SDI power cell INR18650-29E (2900 mah cells)in a 10S5P 36V14.5Ah

How much is the pack? Keep in mind that those are not high power cells but energy dense cells. They have a max rating of like 8A. That would mean only 32A for 4P of cells and 40A for the 5P pack. And I'm sure they don't like being discharged at their max ratings often.

The 48v pack is $345+shipping. Rated Max discharge is 35A. Max charge rate 5A. Looks to be a good match for the bbs01-02 type systems demands. Any safer than standard RC LIPO? Case alone is $39+.

That case is usually 60 bucks after shipping etc.

I would think that they are certainly safer than Hobby King LiPo. Just think about who is making these things. Turnigy/Zippy vs Samsung.

Looks like a very nice setup with cells in welded 4 packs wired in that are easy to deal with when/ if something goes wrong with a cell. Two packs in series may make a reasonably sized, safe, solid mid power e bike battery.
