Scavenging for Used Battery Cells: My Mission and the Booty!

pbwset-

Great advice on the V28 packs not yielding many "fresh" cells. I made my first two 36v packs on Sunday and took them for a test ride (parallel configuration, of course). At first, I was amazed at the acceleration performance which seemed to beat even the Bosch packs I normally use, but alas, it turned out they only went about half as far as my normal two Bosch packs- AND these batteries are supposed to have quite a bit more juice in them!

After the ride, I checked the voltages on the cells and they were WAY out of balance. Some of the cells were around 2.45v and others were at 3.5 volts. Oi  I'm not sure how many of them are worth salvaging now  , but all-in-all, it was a good educational experience.

PS: I think I'm going to try to find the best cells sans a CBA battery analyzer by stringing about 20 cells together and then running the electricity through a lightbulb for an hour. I can then check to see which have the highest and best matching ending voltages.
