I see they have pricing on the Schwinn Ebikes.. $2000 to 1500.

See http://schwinnbike.com/products/bikes_category.php?id=109

This is likely a dumb question, but... where's the chain? How do the pedals transfer power to the wheel?

On the page it says:
Hybrid – Ride Schwinn Electric bikes as a conventional bike or as electric bikes.

So they say you can pedal it... but I don't see how.

The price is a bit high, but the battery pack is very nice. Actually the bicycle really looks like normal bike. They did a nice job with the wiring and the motor. I think if I pulled up next to it, I'd have a hard time telling that it's electric.

Mini 400 W motor on the front wheel too.
Nice. Can't see direct peddle drive being an advantage over gears though. No info on torque, speed and amp draw either.

The lack of speed and range info is a concern. Hope is was an oversight.

heh,

24v 10ah battery, they tout 60 miles range.
The back wheel has a Nexus 7 for gearing.

I don't like the look of the mudguards though.
Strip-plastic yellow things that look flacid?
Shoulda used real mudguards like on their other electric bikes...

Aww yeah!

Well I've seen that one before, 1.5K euros... Looks like a very good Ebike if
the specs arn't BS, so light and you even got a usable rack! I'd love to see it
with full mudguards, lights & drum brakes, should be <20Kgs? Seems it
would make a practical bullet proof Ebike.

Don't know what kind of hub it uses? The stated ability to freewheel implies
it's a hub motor, meaning noise.
