I had a adult sized Schwinn electric Stingray donated to me a few day ago. It is a little worse for wear, but I am excited about fixing it up. It needs new batteries, controller and a throttle. All other stingrays I have seen the motor in the rear, but mine is in the front. I have read a lot about upping these motors to 36V with good results. Is there any way to tell if my motor can handle it? The only info I can gleam for it is the name a serial number: Aotema ATM06071574.

thanks,
Spencer

It can definitely handle up to 48v easily. If it has two big fat wires it's a brushed motor. If it has three big fat wires its brushless. High Tech Bikes is the place to go to get an aotema brushless controller. That brushless controller takes 36 or 48 v.
