Bicycle makers offer commuters two-wheeled hybrids

At the opening Wednesday of Interbike, the nation's largest bicycle trade show, Schwinn will debut the Tailwind, which uses new battery technology from Toshiba Corp. to get about 30 miles (depending the terrain and on how hard you pedal) on a 30-minute charge.

Beautiful bike too.

Full chainguard, dynamo lighting, wheel lock, full fenders, hub gears & brake are really nice touches.

Dynamo lighting? That seems somewhat backwards to me. Energy goes from electrical in the battery to mechanical in kinetic energy, back to electrical through the dynamo and then to the light? Seems like using that battery pack to power the light would be a much more appropriate use of whats available.

I suppose the dynamo is useful if there's no battery charge, but still!
