Hello! I'm converting a coleman minibike to electric. It runs, but the motor makes a terrible high pitch screeching sound and the throttle reponse is very poor. I first started with a 48v setup and everything ran fine, but decided to upgrade to a 72v system and the issues started.
My setup:
Controller: KLS-7212N (I have a KLS-7225RMon order, I have a feeling my current controller is underpowered for what I have. The controller gets pretty hot under very short rider, 1 to 2 minutes)
Battery: Amorge 72V45AH, 220 Amp (pretty impressed with the battery so far)
Motor: QS138, 3000W
Controller setting: motor current = 100%, battery current = 50% (I've played with this setting with no change with the motor issues)
Some other observations: The battery display on the throttle gets very hot, and the controller, along with the 72V contactor, also gets very hot.
This forum has been a great help, and I have made countless visits, but this has me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
