.... the Vivax was originally introduced as the "Gruber Assist"

Yes, and ironically on that same Treehugger page is a link to the original Gruber drive review from 2009 !

.....The power that he has recorded at the pedals of his bike from the Vivax assist is 150 watts continuously,
Well, i suppose every little bit helps !

Vivax Assist Standard kit including 5.5 Ah battery and charger - £2190
Vivax Assist Water bottle battery kit including 5.5 Ah battery and charger - £2690
Installation of kit into desired bike £150
Upgrade from 5.5Ah battery to 8.25 Ah battery + £180

 Yikes !

crap - my lack of attention to detail fails again!

sorry guys

Still a damn cool idea for certain applications. Like smoking them in the local senior Olympics.

If I could use a regular bike for anything more than getting me to/from the light rail (a few miles from my house) for trips to friends' houses on the other end of hte valley, this type of drive would at least allow me to ride a regular bike, which I can hardly even do nowadays.

If it werent' for it's cost, it would actually be pretty good for most people that just want an assist on their bike, that arent' looking to be moved around without any effort. .

(typically I need much more of a bike to do my normal trips, which include hauling large or heavy stuff around, and this drive would be woefully insufficient for that!)
