Hi all, I'm curious if anyone has any experience with Sevcon's ClearView display. I am looking to use it in conjunction with the Gen4 controller I have, to provide me with a replacement for my motorcycle's instrument cluster. I have a few questions about how well the unit works which I would prefer to have answered by someone who has experience using it.

Firstly, Sevcon's brochure lists the input voltage for the device is 24V (http://www.sevcon.com/media/44426/clearview.pdf). The manual states the working voltage limits are 15-28.8V (https://www.thunderstruck-ev.com/images/Clear View Display user manual.pdf). This is problematic for me, as my pack voltage sits around 70V, while the DC-DC converter supplies 12V. Is this a matter of some dissection to bypass an internal voltage regulator? Does anyone have any sneaky solutions to this?

Secondly, it appears that Sevcon's battery discharge indicator (BDI) function only uses battery voltage to determine remaining capacity. Can anyone confirm this? The wording in the manual (https://www.thunderstruck-ev.com/images/Gen4 Product Manual V3 4.pdf - pages 6-37 and 6-38) seems targeted towards lead-acid chemistries, for which this would be more appropriate. It would be nice if it also used the current draw and pack voltage to calculate SOC, but perhaps this isn't implemented.

Finally, can anyone comment on the refresh rate of vehicle information on the display? I have seen a video where the user navigates the settings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ryWTccXb-I), but this doesn't show how quickly values such as current draw and vehicle speed might be updated while in use. Navigating menus looks snappy and responsive, but I'd be worried if current draw and vehicle speed were delayed/updated infrequently.

I am primarily interested in displaying current draw, battery SOC, and vehicle speed would be a benefit. If anyone has any suggestions about other displays that may offer similar features for a comparable price (~$350-390), I'd be interested in hearing about them. I like the integration that the ClearView display has with the Gen4 controller though, and the ability to alter some drivability parameters "away from home".

Does anyone know of video footage of one "in-use" (other than just modifying parameters)?

Once again, these are questions I will direct to vendors if no one is familiar with the display, but sometimes its nice to hear from users instead of salespeople. Thanks for any input anyone can add!

Hello. You can use the sevcon clearview display with no problem. the sevcon controller programation port has max voltage of 24V (pin 2 and pin 4 on a gen4 size 2) special designed for calibrations tools, like the clearview display. If you have the right cable You plug and play. No need of external power supply.
That is. I hope it hepls.
