I just received a Golden Motors Magic Pie and I also bought a 48v 15ah battery from china one of those big blue ones. I wired up the power connector that came with it. The lifepo4 battery has a blue and red wire. and the GM wiress have a black and red. I wired it up so the 2 red wires would connect in the plug. Once i had it both plugs wired up properly and tried to plug it in, it created a gigantic spark and melted the metal inside the plugs. So I figured that it must have been reversed and i swapped them around and tried it again and they melted and created a huge spark again!! Anyone have any idea what in the world could be happening!?!?

The spark could be normal, the first time you connected red with red, you tried to push the motor?.

If things are bad could be from the both sides. Battery or Magic pie, but It can be probable a bad wiring in the connector. Could you upload photos of the connectors and battery?

Well the spark was so large that it actually melted some of the metal away from the connectors. You can see where one is shorter than the other. And the male adapter in the middle of the prong melted off and landed in the carpet! Here are some pictures. The motor is brand spanking new and so is the battery. On the pictures inside the plug you can even see where the metal melted off. Also, on the wires I am holding the black wire the prongs also melted. I had them inserted inside the plug that was laying on the bed.. But took them out.

I never tried to push the motor. I just tried to plug it in to see if I got power and it made a gigantic spark and melted away some of the metal....... I am at a loss on what in the world to do!

If the inside of both connectors are well wired/soldered, the problem should be at the other side from the battery.

I mean, the battery can't be wrong. If the battery disconnected from the Pie are charging OK, and you check with a voltmeter that the Voltage is ok.

In a way to melt connectors, must be a wiring problem at the other side. From the connectors to the magic Pie. I explain myself?

There must be a short probably that make current flow through the battery even when magic Pie is on standby, or just a problem on the connectors.

You should test Voltage, and bridge the main poles on the battery, with the main poles of the Pie, without connectors, with thick wires 12AWG, or with a thick wire and your multimeter on Amp meter (20A fuse)(fuse will blow sure if the problem is a short). And you will know if there are anything wrong far away the connectors
