I am looking to put a 250 to 350 watt 36v geared hub motor on a Downtube Nova 20" folding bike. It has a fairly skinny steel fork, and might have an aluminum frame, with 135mm rear hub. I have not verified that but let's say it's aluminum. Since the bike weighs 24 lbs, I would think that is the case. (I don't have the bike yet.) I have a small battery in a soft bag which will hang where it says Downtube on the main tube.

15 MPH top speed is fine.
I'd rather have extra grunt than extra top speed.
I'd like to buy a wheel already laced with the motor. If not, I'll have to source someone to do it. Which can be done, I'm sure.
Brakes will be rim brakes.
I would pay extra within reason to get it from a US or Canadian supplier.
I would need a controller, throttle, brake levers, the usual stuff. No PAS, I don't think.

Would the forks hold up to a front motor with torque arms?
Or would a rear motor be better? I have a front hub 26 incher, and also a rear hub one. The front hub can be a very minor annoyance, but for my riding style it's not a big deal. Simpler and easier is better, as long as it's secure.

So given all that... who, what, where, how?
Thanks.

Motor design should be important for the future. New electric motors can change manufacturing and construction after the electric revolution.
