Hey Guys and Girls... hello from New Orleans...

I ordered a BAFANG 48V 500W rear hub motor. It is intended for my 1 month old Giant Sedona DX bike with 26" tires. i want to mount the motor on the original tires I have NO idea how long the spokes should be - or the strength.

i went to the Spoke length calculator but allot of the terms and acronyms baffle me

Any help would be appreciated.

My Sedona Rims are Giant GX 28
The tires are Kenda K892 26x2.3, Multi-Surface

Which spoke length calculator and what terms did you not understand?

Use this one - it has explanations on the same page:

You want to use your existing rims right? (That's the metal part, not the tire)

If so you will be looking to measure your ERD along the way, or effective rim diameter. There's a bunch of tutorials on how to do it, I like the two spoke method.

The other measurements are from the hub or motor like the flange diameter and how far offset it is, etc.

One prob you might run into on the spokes is if the holes in the motor and the rim are drilled for different gauges, then you'll have to adapt one end or the other.

FRACK!! I just realized that my Giant Sedona DX rim has 32 spokes and the motor i ordered has 36 spokes...

I guess i will be using the tire that came with the motor. I appreciate everyones advice.

You can still lace them together:
