Until I make the custom covers for my GT I must admit that I'm a little jealous of this guy's TidalForce creation. I browse over at the Google TF forum from time to time like other's here do and I spotted this sweet ride last night. He mounted up TidalForce components on a full suspension Giant, turned out very nice. Hope Brian doesnt mind me showing off his pride and joy over here, he has a lot to be proud of. And it looks like he's located somewhere near our part of town (BayArea-CA).

Before deciding to go with the custom emoli pack in the triangle, I was scouting for a dead TF front hub battery for the GT project. The idea got shot down when I learned that emoli cells are too long to fit in the hub with the cover on, although I see someone on that forum is working on the same approach with A123 cells. Cant wait to see the results.

 SWEEEEEEET.

ooohhh

That is sweet, thats e-bike porn right there  I hope Matra are watching they really need to make sure the kits are available when they bring the new range out so other people can make machines like this, although I would ditch the front wheel battery for riding off road they handle so much better without them, not sure you could squeeze much in that frame mind, its an absolute beauty hats off to him. I need a frame like that!

They are XT V Brakes, as good as all but the best disc brakes in my opinion also disc brakes arent an option on the TF rig, well adjusted quality V brakes still work very well with decent pads in, cheap disc brakes are not worth bothering with. Just my 2 cents!

Even with several different pad types, my rim brakes would always burn the pads up and fade. I could never really enjoy the bike except on open roads with little traffic due to the crap brakes. The 203mm Juicy Sevens are so much better than any rim brake, not even in the same league. Even in the rain the bike stops with confidence.

Wearing through the sides of expensive rims is a bit annoying as well. The aluminum will wear down to the point of popping.

Had no problem with stopping in the wet or the brakes fading, the pads do wear quicker on an e-bike but so do the disc pads, my KMX pads are almost shot already, never had a rim wear through though, put 20,000 miles on a bike and the rim still fine?

Anyway this guy has no choice as the TF doesnt accept a disc brake, the Puma does! he he still its jolly nice and I would love to Puma that beastie up, the Tidal Force bikes are great but a little pricey, you could make a Puma fly past one of these with no trouble.

We can argue about brakes another time, this is a great rig even with no brakes.

"right click save as"

faaaaarout that is the nicest ebike i have seen so far PERIOD.

(i'm not really a fan of the optibike looks)

This is just well as everyone has said - ebike porn!

i want a bigger pic for my background on my mac laptop!

mmm thats so nice - does anyone know if you can buy just the hub batteries on their own?

I had a quick look on the TidalForce Forum, but there are 1000's of posts :S

wouldn't mind a LiPoly front hub battery :)

I believe so, but expensive & heavy.
U$550 for 9Ah Saft nimh last I heard a week or so ago.
Search the TFF or google for LEVT who may still have some.
Someone here might know their web address as they are the rep for Heinzman.
They'll lace it into whatever wheel you want.
Don't know if that's extra though.

thanks :)

yes very $$$ :( thats ok it was only an idea ;)

My TF cruser like all TF has regen breaking which works like wonder.
Just touch left lever and 29kg bike slowes down like a champ with minimal pads wear. That is beauty of e-bike with regen - it slows down no mattewr what weather even in heavy rain andreturn some energy back. Why would you need discs???
