There was a thread on this earlier but it went off on a tangent! So to try and get back on track...
Is it safe to mount a 1000W front hub motor on springer forks? They look great and are steel (chrome plated) so welding a plate for the torque arm should be possible. I've heard they are not strong at the pivot point and have lateral movement.
Monark dual springer forks look strong, but I don't think they do a fork for my 28" wheel.
Any comments?
Thanks

i have springer forks on my wood bike...mid drive motor... work verywell for me.. i like them..the way they act,i dont think a front mount with a motor would be adviable... no return control... im running 24" wheel, don know if you casn run 28"..if you do get them get the heavy duty ones with the ss mounts and the bronze bearings....also check the weld where the fork and the plate meet with the steering post.mine bent there when i bumped a lamp post

Since they are as you say, steel, I don't see why they could not be made safe. But I haven't tried it myself so it's just a guess. If it's not strong, weld till it is I'd say.
