I got this for free and looking to do my first mid-drive build.
I've done several hub builds (QS205 6T with Fardriver ND96530 and QS205 5T with Sabvoton 72150) but I am at a loss at what would be a good pairing for this build. I've been using 7s6p 18650 "modules" that can push 100amps. I place in the series/parallel to get the voltage I want (21/28s) but I am open to a lipo build or other suggestions (i.e. BatteryHookup Samsung 12S modules). I don't really care about top speed (35mph is plenty) but would like some stupid torque.
Here are the options I'm playing with:
1) Vevor My1020 3000w with stock controllers running at 21s and put a huge rear sprocket for torque.
2) Vevor My1020 3000w with upgraded controller (fardriver, votol, sabvoton) at 21s. From other posts these motors are kinda crappy quality and have issues with other controllers.
3) QS90/120 kit with Votol 150/200 or Fardriver but still probably need to mess with rear sprocket.
4) QS138 70h v3 kit with Votol 150/200 or Fardriver

I'm leaning towards 1) and see if it meets my needs (I can always throw it into my kids razor mx650 if it doesn't work out) but I like 4) for the ease of gearing and potential performance. I know I am a little size contained but anything else I should consider?

Can your battery pack shell out 24C discharge rate? The Fardriver ND 96530 controller should kick ass if your batt pack can supply enough current.

my choice: Three LiPo 20Ah [6s] Turngy cell packs can put out up to 24C discharge rate, so 20 x 24 = 480 amps. See vendor

You will want [maybe need] a Reactor 300w 20A charger for these as the BMS is in the charger — HobbyKING


As for the motor, the QS3000 geared motor will save you the need of a jack shaft or very large rear sprocket.

My other applications is not yet posted but is the geared QS 3000 138 V3 installed in a motorcycle. I am not familiar with the QS 138 70h v3.
