The only thing I see in common with inboard is a battery deck

with boosted...the wheel color?

This is a pretty sweet design if you ask me! And they definitely found a niche including a transmission. Whether it is cheap or not, time will tell.

Good on them for innovating!

Yeah, I have to admit I like the "innovation" as well. I want to race all of these new boards though with my boards
Me thinks I need some new trophies!

Yeah, this definitely isn't going to go no 30mph and/or a power house but not bad for a decent commuter.

Gonna be late to work all the time! haha Did you put your tires on yet slacker?

Do you know if it will be bouncy? Answer: NO. These tires are nothing like the ones you have on your wheels. Which is why I changed mine out immediately.

8.6lbs is pretty light and the gears in the wheel is a pretty good idea i give them that.... but the problem with random type of companies on alibaba is usually they dont come even close to the specs as well as they do not support or warranty their products.

put up a review with the weight, top speed and range when you get it...

Their specs seem more realistic vs american companies.

I backed this one, too. Right price point and some good features. Wish it went a little faster, but I'm willing to overlook that.

Will be interesting to see how they manage that planetary gear.

Will it be quiet over time and keep friction losses low?

Ideally would help to have some lube in there but then issues with leaking seals and slippery wheels.

Otherwise really interesting and I like their easily replaceable urethane design.

First company to see use a planetary gear setup as a transmission, but I highly doubt it will last long because friction & heat will damage the teeth. Its cheaply made, but Im not falling for the 10 mile range. Lipo batteries are expensive unless they manage to get more out of a set battery capacity.

if they take the money and run, would our credit card company refund our money?
i heard so many horror stories about KS

It's the risk you take with a KS. If you can't risk the cash - don't put it up and back the product.

There is a possibility to get it back but it will be a long time before that happens and a lot of work.

I second this. Kickstarter is a 50/50 thing with specific deadline creators make and promise, but way to much delays in trying to deliver the product and underestimating. The most recent project I backed was for GekcoTek 3D printing plate using nano surface coating on metal to allow perfection adhesion of printed parts with the trouble associated with printing them. Had an estimated shipping date of October 2014 when I signed up. I haven't received my plates yet, but for a good reason of printing with ABS which the creators are trying to work out the kinks to ensure durability in the long run was the reason I would wait. They did make plates for printing with PLA and also offered refunds for those who no longer can wait.

As for taking money and disappearing, legal action can be taken because its now defined as a scam. The credit card company should be able to refund money back, but I don't know because I have not been in such a situation yet. Torqueboards comment applies.

In that video could see how the motor is attached via 4 bolts thru a flange to hold the motor similar to the way a belted motor is held onto a mount.

It doesn't look like the truck axel is supporting the wheel or bearing because the motor shaft is being used to drive the planetary gear.

I guess that is strong enough or maybe I am missing something in the design.

update vid looks awesome! thanks for sharing

cant believe how light that thing is because he was just using 1 hand. when he threw it onto the ground, it actually bounced! im really impressed.
how on earth are they able to hit 20mph with just 1 motor?

Wait, 4kg? that can't be right. The trucks will weigh at least 800 grams, front wheels 800g, rear 200g, motors/gears 1200, bolts 100g, grip 200g, deck 1000g, that leaves -100 grams for the batteries/receiver/esc?

A regular deck is about 3.5 kg...
