Giant Stiletto Chopper bicycle
24” rear wheel, 20” front wheel
3” wide tires
1500w rear hub motor
52v Lunacycle battery
front and rear disc brakes
7-speed SRAM gears
pedal assist sensor and twist throttle

Just finished my first ebike conversion. It’s a success! Bike goes 35mph! Low center of gravity, rear wheel drive, and 3” wide tires make it very solid and stable. Yay!

Beautiful scooter.
Practical? Maybe not the most.
So what... I want it!!

(Looks like you might not end up pedaling a lot. If you don't, maybe pick one useful gear and simplify it to that? The derailleur setup somehow doesn't look exactly right on this bike.)

Man, that is beautiful Sandbag. Love the rear mudguard and chain guard. Did you do the paint? Nice. I agree with Footloose about the gears. Single speed is all you need. Lose the derailleur and clean up the rear. Without a shifter the bars'll look niftier. But as I go longer, my rhymes are getting wronger.

Thanks for the replies!

the fingers - Yup, low and with some kick too. Super fun.

footloose - whaddaya mean, not 'practical'? j/k. It's my bug-around-town fun toy. I can put on a backpack and go to the store and get beer, that's practical, right?!

Aussie - Thanks. The bike is fairly stock. Paint and chain guards are how I got it, $200 deal on Craigslist. It came with the 7-gears and the rear disc brake. I had to add the front disc brake.

You are right, most of the gears aren't usable at any kind of speed. Maybe I will remove them, but for now I just want to ride it everyday!

I also enjoyed building it so much, that I am thinking about making another one.

I wonder, how much do you think this chopper would sell for?

Hey Sandbag,
What conversion kit did you use?
I'm new to ebikes.
Did you buy a complete rear wheel with motor?.....or custom build the motor into the wheel?
Did you need to upgrade the brakes?

Any guidance would be much appreciated.
I have a Stiletto collecting dust in my garage and think an electric conversion is the key to getting in back on the road!

Tukyank,
I bought a Leaf Motor kit:
http://leafbike.com/products/diy-bike-conversion-kit/24-inch-electric-hub-motor-kit/c-14/
It came with the motor built into the wheel rim.
I did also add a disc brake to the front wheel (it already had a disc brake in the rear).

Basically, I put together just three things: the bike, the 1500 w 48vleaf motor kit, and the 52v battery.
:)
