Never mind being
about why people are concerned about exceeding the 20mph ebike speed limit. People are more concerned about a stupid arbitrary wattage number. Example, UK'ers are freakishly frightened of exceeding 251W like they are going to be sent to the clinker after a bout with the local judiciary magistrate upon the bobbies sight of a hub motor.
I mean I guess if they are riding around on a Enduro ebike with pedals, and a 5kw hub doing wheelies in front of the bobbies and doing stupid things, yeah them bobbies would be putting down their donuts for some colorful paper writing to hand out.Hillhater

Those same 5S RC bricks also serve to power various cordless hand tools (Drill/drivers, blowers, strimmer, stic vac, etc).
Either that is the least known regulation,... or the most ignored, !. Much like ebike power restrictions and speed limits.
Most of us realise the danger with RC lipo is in its lack. Of built in protection..BMS etc, and the “abilities” (or lack of))...of its users. some of my HK bricks are near 10 yrs old, still working, a few others have had individual cells die ?.....but they are then easily recycled into 4 s. Or 3 s bricks !! :wink:

I also use some bolt together automotive cells on bikes with similar results. Those do require a bit more work bolting them together along with factoring in compression plates at the faces of the ends of both strings, but of course so do RC lipo packs. Plus if you factor in all the fiddling with checking and balancing your precious RC lipo flame bricks that cost 2-3 times as much per kwh even before considering another doubling or tripling in cost over the long term due to shorter service life.
Here's what a brand new and unused 4s hardpack looked like about 30 days after arrival without being touched other than to check balance on day 1. Luckily I didn't trust RC lipo at the time, and stored the 20 packs I received on a concrete floor well spaced from each other. Otherwise our guest house that I used for work and storage would have surely burned to the ground.

Me: I placed an order for some lipos out of the Hong Kong warehouse which turned out to be out of stock. Last time I spoke with customer service I was under the impression that the batteries would be shipped when they were back in stock but this morning I noticed the order was marked complete and a store credit issued. (And the listed price per pack nearly doubled). I am wondering if these batteries will automatically ship to me at the originally agreed upon price or if will be up to me to reorder using the store credit at whatever new price hobbyking chooses?
Them: It will be up to you to reorder it using the store credit.
... Order cancelled, refund in progress. Good customer service, but unbelievably bad business practices.

That's not really the point. In my world if you make a business agreement you do what you can to live up to it, especially when the failing is your businesses fault. You don't take a customers money to use for your own purposes for an indeterminate amount of time without living up to the original terms of the agreement. You especially don't tell them that you'll send it as soon as it comes in and then cancel the order and leave them with store credit the following day after making that agreement. They gave me the option and couldn't even live up to that much.
I'm not too torn up about the packs being unexpectedly backordered, but frankly I'm insulted that they would handle all of this in a way which is effectively an F-U to someone who just placed a $600 order.

I don't know how good they are now, but in the past I've had good luck with dx.com Must have ordered from them 6+ times and never been screwed yet.
Got my refund this morning. Of course they kept the $50 shipping fee, because that's how they roll.
It's supposedly processing, separately for some reason, but something tells me it won't hit my account without more legwork on my end. Guess we'll see.

Basically its $80cdn worth of 10 sets of XT90's and 5m Silicone Wire
I'm not purchasing but I just wanted to see what the options were for shipping from Hong Kong warehouse. With your experience, China's annexation of Hong Kong and the China Kung Flu Virus, I will find alternative places to purchase from.
I haven't been able to find any flexible wire like Hobby Kings silicone wire locally, aside from expensive hobby stores. I just saw PM Hobby Craft locally wants $12cdn for two Female XT90's, so thats $12cdn for one set (M+F) of XT90. Same store I bought the last of their 10awg for $3 or $4/ft, but the guy gave me a deal. I wouldnt want to know how much the hobby story sells Lipo's for.
