These were on display at Interbike. Seem functional, but not for me. They also had a 35 pound carbon mid-drive (AIR) which was priced competitively.
 
Nice. But, you know, one of the important parts of a step-thru bike is that you can actually, you know, "step" like, "through" the bike. Seriously. That's what those words arranged in that order actually mean.

This is sort of like Volkswagen naming their flagship car the Phaeton. it was a hard top saloon. but a Phaeton is a style of car or carriage that has no roof at all. It's not even a convertible. Yay for marketing totally getting a name's meaning all wrong.
 
To be fair, a step-through bike is traditionally one that has the top tube low enough that you don't have to swing a leg over/behind the saddle. So the term includes ladies' bikes and mixtes. The bike in your photo is what I'd call a "low step-through", which is a kind of bike I'd sort with other special-needs bikes, like handcycles and side opening trikes.
