I'm planning to purchase a couple of inexpensive parts from Canada (< $100). Since they originated in China and modified slightly in CA before resale, it seems they could experience as great as 50% or so tariffs. Has anyone purchased anything like this from CA, and if so what was the % tariff?

I just bought a Superharness kit from Grin last week. It was a little over $200. The cart at checkout said to expect 30-40% tariffs on the items that originated in China (The display and throttle I think). I received it this week from DHL in California and they didn't ask for duties. I don't know if that was a mistake with the way it was shipped though.
They had some statements a while ago about how it's mostly canadian made, it should be duty free.
They advised US customers to shy away from their resold Chinese geared/DD hub motors and batteries ( most of their batteries ). But most other things should be OK.

Mine are a KT controller, display and wiring, so originally manufactured in China. Apparently it depends on how the shipper codes them, but AFAICT the tariffs may be up to 50%. Not a political comment, but this tariff thing is biting us in the ass.

I think that the Supreme Court is supposed to rule on the tariffs soon. It wouldn't hurt to wait a week or so and see how that plays out if you don't need it right now and don't want to pay the duty.
I got a bunch of stuff from Grin just before Christmas, a phaserunner (which should be exempt) was the most expensive in the package, but only about 50% of the total cost. It also included CA and a bunch of other stuff like wiring, which is not marked as strictly canadian made on their website. Nevertheless so far no tariff invoice from DHL. Perhaps they worked something out...

The article makes it clear - the de minimis exemption to tariffs remains closed, under the same power that was just struck down today but in a separate order.

How long for prices to drop on all the Chinese stuff? I am holding off buying anything for now. All the new tariffs the orange molester is trying to implement aren't legal either.
They might not really drop. Egg prices have not really come down much have they?

As an example I bought mt 200 hydraulic brakes for 23.00 for a set right before tariffs now they are in the upper 30 dollar range. I wNt to see low 20 dollars again.
