Since my current bike is a wheelie monster when the power is turned up I decided to have an almost identical frame turned into a really long swing arm version of it so I can launch hard. I'm calling this my drag bike. It should be receiving a 13kV version of the Hubzilla and will probably have a top speed of about 75 MPH, but my main goal with it is pure acceleration.

This frame is almost the same as my current one, but I decided to have a fabricator hack it up and add on a 20" longer swing arm and relocate the shock mount. Here is where it is so far.

Cut up and ready for plating

All plated up with 1/8" steel, shock mount relocated so I can use a more standard sized shock. I'm hoping this is done in time in order for me to take it to the Grange race. Should be a ton of fun for racing cars if I can finally keep the front end from going so high. Wheel base should be about 58" axle to axle vs my current 46" axle to axle.

Swing arm is pretty much done now, it's 20" longer than stock. I actually need to measure it. Shock mount on the frame was relocated to accommodate a longer shock since the stock one was basically a 150mm pogo stick.

We are going to try and install it after we get the bike to his shop. No more wheelie problems, just hard core acceleration! Chain line should not be an issue and I'm now probably going to try and find a front chaining bigger than 52 teeth to run with the Schlumpf since I can only use a 16 tooth rear. Anyone sell a 110mm 5 both 60 tooth chain ring? Looks like it will fit with no problem now

If there is interest in something like this I might be able to talk him into making a run of swing arms for these Kent all steel frame bikes which work great with 20" wheels. He'd relocate the rear shock mount so we can use standard 6.5" shocks. The whole bike new is about $120 I think. I love the way mine rides after all the mods I've done, very comfortable to ride at high speed. Have had total noobs hop on it and go 40-50+ MPH within their first 5 mins of riding an ebike for the first time, so that means my bike is pretty stable at speed and confidence inspiring. This longer swing arm will only make it even better.

Yes I know, it's basically a motorcycle pretending to be a bicycle, but all I care is that it's fun as hell to ride.

Having a bit of length is nice. Looks like pretty good fab work too. :)

What controller are you going to use for it?
what voltage and amps are you going to run?

Going to run my 36 fet controller at 125 volts and probably 200 battery amps and 300a phase but I'm going to start off lower and work up from 100 battery amps and 200+ phase amps which is about where I'm at now with my current motor. My high kv Cromotor will go into this most likely if the controller can handle it since its only a 2 turn motor. First test ride should be this Saturday. He fabbed this arm up in about 2.5 hrs based on our design discussion last night. I'm thinking about having him Fab up 10 entire custom ebikes for 20 inch wheel use. Swing arm length would be customizable. Goal would be to keep the frames simple all steel and allow multiple shock holes for adjustability. Just need to find out if there would be interest in hot rod race style frames before spending the money. Would be a little while because I'm buying my supply of Greyborg frames and parts pretty soon which there is demand for now... including me.

Completely different markets but there seems to be some demand for a decent 20 inch wheel capable frame with full suspension. Just an idea I'm kicking around for later.

I like the fact that I can run my 52 tooth or larger chainring without issue, that and it looks awesome.

A few better pictures of the swing arm. I'm 6'1 for some scale reference.

No, that is not the fork going on the bike, just a stand in to help the fabricator work on the frame.

Very interesting! :D

What is the purpose of the open frame tubes in the back? Battery space?

Not sure what you are referring to. The purpose of the swing arm being so long is to prevent wheelies so I can up the power.

If you mean the frame itself in the 1st two pictures, he cut off part of the round tube so he could install 1/8" steel plate to reinforce the frame and relocate the shock mount.

Hi zombiess
Are we going to see this drag bike at the Grange race on april 7th?

liveforphysics has the radared record of 67 mph down the 950' straight, do you
think that you can beat that? :D
or are you going to have a shot at beating AGK's monsta 4 stroke?

It might make it, but my current motor will not go 67mph and I don't know if the new motors (and my faster wind one) will be in yet due to a small delay in shipping.

Just got word, it's not going to be done in time. Will have to wait until next time, I don't want to rush the fabricator since he has bigger things to handle at the moment that trump this side project he took on as my friend. I also don't want to spend a bunch of money on more bike parts to build this into a complete bike at the moment so another few weeks or a month isn't a big deal. I need to find a rear brake with a nice long hydraulic line or just have one made from the local hose store since bicycle hydraulic brake lines cost way to much for what they are. My current rear brake line is 1.5M long and it's just long enough with the 8" long swing arm so I need one that's at least another 12" longer than this one which most likely means going custom.

nice project!.. Subscribed!

Just reading/searching some of your threads and found this very cool hope you get back on it!

Fabricator is too busy to finish. Need to go get the frame from him, it's basically done and ready to assemble.
