...is when you let someone ride it for the first time. Check out the broad smile that comes across their face when they hit the throttle.

On “let someone ride it for the first time”:

I only did that once with my auto mechanic so he could comprehend directly why I hadn’t been in of late. I presumed that coming from a family legacy of running auto repair that he’d know how to ride motorcycle and handle himself on dirt bikes. When he rolled that throttle back and took off – I could see the whites of his eyes, and instantly thought of the terrible liability if he were to crash, which he nearly did.

I haven’t let anyone ride my bikes since. :|

However, since you asked:
The most fun thing, the single thing that makes it exciting, is that I built my own from scratch (at least from the perspective of integration, and design of custom parts). Second to that is the complete joy of success that the invention and integration worked as expected. 8) And if not, well – then it’s back to the drawing board.

C'est la vie, KF

The first time you ride up a crazy long hill, one you'd never think of riding up before.

Close second, the first time you ride more than 50 miles. Again, no way you'd do that just pedaling. ( at my age anyway)

Loading my 30 lb cast net into one side of the rear baskets and cruising up to the bridge and then netting 30 lbs of mullet that go in the other basket and cruising home to offload, and then going back to do it again. I used to be only to pedal it once in a day, but now I can go back for more!

When a friend flipped my bike upside down from the start, and ended flat on his arse with the bike on top. Priceless. :D

Every time I see Luke's pinky video, I wish some friend will lose a shoe someday.

For me so far has been seeing the look on the face of the people in the car on the left of me as i pretend to be peddleing at 40 mph in the long stratch of bike lane on the way to my college. I only keep this up for short bursts but the look on their faces of WTF is priceless....

After I finished the electric trike a year or so ago, I was riding through the neighborhood, and some dorky teenagers started laughing at me as I went by. It was the kind of laugh that people do when they want you to know they are laughing at you. So I did a U-turn and went back. They were pretty quiet as I rode up and said, "are you laughing at me?"

They just stood there, not sure what to do or say.

So I looked at the little ringleader and said, "Give it a try and see if you're still laughing."

So he took off down the neighborhood and came back with a huge smile. Then I let his friends try it (boy and a couple girls).

That straightened them out real fast. They were stoked and I didn't seem like such the dork after that. They started asking how they could get one, etc.

There are only two types of people on this planet: Those who love electric bikes.......and those who haven't tried one yet.

HA love that mate...
ballsy letting some random kids try your bike though.

for me its the sense of freedom, that I can ride what is effectively a low power motorbike wherever I wish (well, within reason)... Unless you have a farm or some MX tracks near your home a Ebike is far more enjoyable, given the fact that you can ride through parks, on bike trails, through forests, anywhere! I've found riding late at night at shopping centres and parks in hilly areas to be great fun... lots of open + smooth varying terrain, with plenty of bridges/staircases etc for a bit of fun...
