Sorry, I was on holiday when the mention of a direct drive motor for boat propulsion was made.
Yes, I am still working on it, I've rewound a TowerPro 5330 for a lower Kv and am building it into a streamlined pod. I'm hoping it will directly drive a 12" diameter prop, running from 12V. I've fitted hall sensors to this motor and will drive it with a baby Infineon controller.
Rather than clog this thread up I'll update the thread on the Boat Design forum soon. Other stuff (converting a Taig mill to CNC.....) is taking up my spare time at the moment.
