Means I don't have to switch on the lazer to get folks attention. Reflected in their mirrors (shining in their eyes) may be too "attention getting".

Phew...

Looks a lot like a battery box, or at least inspired by one.
http://www.delish.com/food-news/a51914/portable-bike-bar-picnic/
In a world oversaturated with Pinterest tutorials and DIY projects (often gone wrong), it's refreshing to come across one that is, in fact, useful and possible to recreate. So when we came across this completely functional and insanely portable bike bar, we were instantly prompted to share it.
In all honesty, this might be the most genius project we've ever seen. A small wooden box is built to fit the exact dimensions of the negative space on a bicycle—and then gets filled with everything you need for drinks in the park: alcohol, bitters, liqueur, tonic water, and cups. There's even a tiny fold-out table made from the side of this boozy box. Of course, you could also use this for picnic supplies like fruit, cheese, and a baguette should you choose to stay sober.
As far as we can tell, the original Facebook post about this tricked out bike has since been deleted; however, we were able to trace it back to a blog post on Hither and Thither from 2013. But even though this idea is not brand new, it's far from well known. Aside from a random reposting on Instagram here and there, the bike bar remains largely unpublicized.
Luckily, there are are couple of tutorials on Instructables, provided by Dutch designers, so you can try your hand at crafting this brilliant bar. And once you do, bon voyage!

^^ IS there such a thing as "too much" fun? :D

Product Description
Increasing your visibility to nearby motorists improves your safety when riding at night or in low-light conditions.
REFLX Reflective Decals are pre-cut from 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Film and allow you to customize your own designs. REFLX Reflective Decals are available in 7 colours for use on helmets, bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, or even laptops and phones cases.

3M is a pioneer in developing the science behind retroreflection. This patented technology helps the eye perceive objects in low-light conditions when illuminated by a light source. In more scientific terms, retroreflection occurs when light rays are returned in the direction from which they came. Since very little light is scattered, unlike other reflective materials, REFLX Reflective Decals increase your nighttime visibility so you can RIDE SAFE and BE SEEN.

UPDATE:
Thank you Philly, you made this possible. We are very proud to announce @cyclesphl as our first official distributor in Philadelphia. After so many requests for our products @cyclesphl decided to contacted us. So thank you again Philly and to all the REFLX RIDERS for the continued support, now let's show some of that love to @cyclesphl and make sure to stop by their shop.

You Can Now Navigate On Your Bike With These Smart Motorcycle Gloves
http://wonderfulengineering.com/you...your-bike-with-these-smart-motorcycle-gloves/

TurnPoint-Smart-Glove-2-768x431.jpg

The glove system uses LEDs on the Bluetooth device to show the distance from a turn in half mile increments and prompts the user when to turn and in what direction. If you manually want to see how far away the turn is, you can press the thumb and forefinger together to activate the LED display of the device. At the moment, the touch of thumb and forefinger will only light up the display, but in the future, it may include features like a compass and battery level display or maybe switching songs on your phone.

The device is rechargeable, and a single charge of the battery will last you a good 8 hours.

Sadly the app is only available for iOS, but an Android version is planned. The TurnPoint system will retail for $249, but you can get an early bird pair at 40% off for $149. You will not get your gloves delivered any sooner than May this year.

Vulpine in the news...

What the hell happened at Vulpine?
http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/what-the-hell-happened-at-vulpine/021275

Starts:
The adjective "vulpine" means “relating to a fox or foxes” and is therefore, perhaps unfairly, associated with the supposed fox-like traits of being crafty and cunning. Foxes get an unfair press, so how about Vulpine the cycle clothing company? Until it announced its collapse to 588 “crowd” shareholders at the start of May, Vulpine’s press profile was, to say the least, stellar. Vulpine founder Nick Hussey was fêted as a visionary, an entrepreneur who asked for crowdfunded investment of £500,000 and raised twice as much. He was invited by the BBC to drape his cycling togs over the desk of a business programme, and he was plugged by cycle magazines.

I usually leave all the bike gadgets for Derek but I so want this that I am jumping on it before he does: the AXA Smart Bell that actually doesn’t just ring but also broadcasts a message to the radio in the car that’s next to you.
Eben Weiss, AKA The Bike Snob, doesn’t usually go for gadgets either but he likes this one.
For thousands of years, cyclists have longed to be able to communicate directly with the creatures who inhabit the motorized death boxes that terrorize our streets. Oh sure, we've used our voices, middle fingers, and occasionally u-locks to great effect. However, none of these can truly penetrate the sheet metal in which the typical motoring moron is encased. But not anymore! For thanks to recent advances in technology, we now have the AXA Smart Bell.
Ringing your bell evidently sends a signal to a box hanging under your seat (which also acts as a tail light) when then broadcasts a message to nearby cars, FEDEX trucks and police cars in bike lanes, which can be heard “even when the radio is operating in AUX, CD, or MP3” using something called “RDS Technology.”
What a wonderful way to send polite and friendly messages to people who pass too close, block the bike lane or open doors in your face. The Bike Snob has come up with his own list of messages that he would like the device to transmit to the car, most of which we cannot copy and paste to a family friendly site like TreeHugger. “This could conceivably give us the near-telepathic ability to berate people with the most vile insults we can muster.”
Alas, It doesn’t exist. It is all a marketing campaign by a big Polish insurance company. “Smart bell was designed to promote safe behavior on the road and is not available for sale.” At the end, they use it as a come-on to collect information.
But wouldn’t it be nice.

WooHoo! (Chinese "Weehoo". Personally, prefer a sidecar/seat for passengers. Rather than putting them in the Fart Zone, riding along more "sociable".) ;)

Brilliant! ... or is it? ...what's the reflective co-efficient? Will it make the sun be shining out my rearward visibility sector?

Not as bright as that, more like the full moon.

This new bike light could help build smart cities
Developed by Queen's University Belfast and See.Sense, it can tell authorities if roads need fixing and alert your emergency contact if you suffer a fall.
by Daniel Van Boom

Queen's University Belfast
As it turns out, the roads of the future could be mapped with bike lights. Kind of.
Ireland's Queen's University and See.Sense have developed a smart bike light that can see and analyse the road a biker rides on, and send out alerts to relevant authorities if said roads need fixing. Plus, if you tumble and fall, the phone-connected light will call an emergency contact for you.
Queen's University said it hopes the bike light can help pave the way for smart cities.
"The light will also identify hotspots or places that cyclists should take extra care with, when in a particular environment or location," Professor Adele Marshall said. "This information could also be used by a local council to identify when a road needs to be repaired or when improvements to infrastructure should be made. This early identification will make our roads and infrastructure safer and help cities to use their resource budgets more efficiently."
Other smart bike tech comes in the form of the Leco Smart Road or Mountain Bike, which both have 4-inch touchscreens that give navigation and track fitness. Then there's Well Lattis' Ellipse smart bike locks, which claim to secure your bike like an armored car.
