Guys, been a tough week. Please do not take this as a vote for sympathy. I do not want people telling me they are sorry for my loss etc, I have had wayyyy too much of that. I just want to provoke some thought.

My business is a smallish team of 18 staff. One of the key staff went out last weekend with the girls for a few drinks. On the way home, it is likely she fell and hit her head, although no one knows for sure. She got home, went to sleep and didn't wake up. She had a fractured skull, haemorrhage and passed in her sleep peacefully.

She was 28.

I have a very 'it is what it is' attitude to death, but this has hit us all quite hard. She was younger than me and it has made me think a lot. Life is about taking risks, but not unnecessary ones. I am out tomorrow to get the kids helmets. I will always encourage them to do things that scare them and believe it is part of making them who they are, but I will not let them become reckless now.

As of tomorrow, I am wearing a helmet.

A simple fall after a drink lead to the death of a beautiful person, we as a collective on here probably put ourselves in a riskier situation daily

Please learn like me. Be safe, wear a helmet. You only get one chance....

Sorry for your loss...Very good advice for all of us and for yourself. I have been witness to a few very horrible injuries and have used and discarded a few helmets. Play safe out there.

It is sad news and extremely unfortunate, but Good advice for all of us.. I always wear a helmet now.

If Crashing when walking can cause such a massive head injury to cause death, Crashing at 40-45km/h without a doubt may take your life.

RIP
