Hi,

I am thinking about buying an e-scooter from Alibaba and would like your opinions.

I will not using it going far, just to the store and to work. Max 20 km (one-way).

Something like this (i want the classic retro look):
http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/EEC-3000W-vintage-Vespa-Electric-Scooters_60359652331.html?spm=a2700.7743248.51.1.vYqhWK

im thinking 2000 - 3 000w, 20 Ah lithium battery, 72v.

Do you have any rekommendations?

Looks heavy to pedal. :D (If it HAD pedals.) Thing is, "115 Kg (include battery)"? At about 250+ pounds weight (plus rider weight and... "stuff"... would take a lot of energy to accelerate and against gravity ("up hills"). So. Zero chance to pedal for exercise and warmth, but in "ebike" terms, also no chance to shave off peak power outputs from batteries at start ups and up hills, etc. To extend range per charge but also to extend life of batteries before recycling/replacement. I recently went "recumbent" whereas this has zero back rest and is slightly more aerodynamic than "the broad side of a barn door". (Thinking strong headwinds here.) And max. legal motor power much more than most places to avoid nasties like licensing and insurance... etc. In "ebike" terms it is a HUGE FAIL. (And I didn't even mention the old/antique style sealed lead-acid (heavy) batteries.) So. Sell a lot in Europe? Watt??? No? Why not d'you suppose.

Looks nice enough but no way of knowing the actual quality.
And you need to look at the total cost including the shipping and import taxes. That can make it a very expensive scooter...

Tell you what. If they really do send you a 3000w scooter like that for less that $1,000 total, including shipping, let me know. I bet I could resolve whatever issues of inferior quality might be present once I got mine. I notice in the text there's reference to it being "1001-2000." Depending how close to 2000 maybe I could settle. I wonder what that battery alone would cost.

Im not sure what you mean, If that's quantity, it says 10 is a minimum order. but there's "Power: 1001-2000w" Although the top says 3000. There's also "Motor: 1000W/3000W(DC) Motor"

If it's $530 each at 1kw, with shipping and the retail cost, I'm assuming they expect you'd pay $1,500 at a store. A 3kw might get to $4,000. Don't think I would.

Do you have any suggestions of an e-scooter with retro look? I only need it to Do 40-50 km/h and 60 km per charge.

Nobody here that has bought this kind of thing from China?

It looks a lot like this one:
http://www.gobyel.se/Produkter/Scootrar/Romex-vit.htm

Costs $4 300 in sweden..

Hmmm... "I only need it to Do 40-50 km/h". So, much faster than most urban speed limits. While using almost the most horrible shape re aerodynamic drag (driving up cost per mile ie needing more battery capacity ie needing to carry more weight...) Good luck! Wish I has "money to burn". [jealousy mode on] hehe What part of the world are you traveling in, by the way...

Im from Malmö, Sweden.

Regarding "the most horrible shape": This kind of style is what i think look nice. Modern scooters are all ugly in my opinion. Its this look or the bus/car. And i wont be ruined by this extra cost.
I wont use it going far and i have no problems in charging it everyday.

Do you think it will get me 40-50 km without charging it? Then its good enough. I will probably never go more then 30-40 km in one day.

Do you have any suggestions of vintage looking scooters that would fit my needs? (I dont need pedals on this one, we already have two E-bikes):

I hope you realize a self imported scooter from China will probably not have an European type approval. So I don't know if you'll be riding the scooter illegal and uninsured or you're going to get it an individual approval in Sweden? Just something else to think about...

Gotcha. Just sayin'. Riding with electrics is like having a gas tank about the size of a sewing thimble. :) Energy efficiency per mile becomes of paramount importance. So doing stuff like riding in recumbent seated position, adding a windshield, adding a covering shell (like the "velomobile". Going slower to cut wind resistance. Pedaling to assist at startups and up hills). Unfortunately, many "traditional" style of bikes, etc assume a powerful (stinky and noisy and hot) gasoline/diseasal-powered engine with a "large" tank filled with hydrocarbon fossil fuels. And maybe a lot of "normal" engine maintenance.

I wouldn't consider any "scooter-style" electric bike except for short and slow distances around town. But others here can suggest otherwise. :) Being a cheap guy, only looking to drive down total costs per mile over time.

There are actually a lot of approved models on Alibaba (atleast thats what they write). And it looks like many of the models that sells in Sweden are the ones that are found on Alibaba. Did you look on the link to the swdish scooter for $4 300? Do you think its the same as the one in my first post?

Have you already requested a price for a single scooter including shipping from that vendor? And a copy of the document that provides you the possibility to register it in Sweden? And asked at customs what it will cost you to import it?
It seems your not really doing your own homework...
And I suspect you will understand why the models already for sale in Sweden that can be registered are so pricey when you investigate.
