What about trails? I was kinda hoping it would be a dual-sport. I’m willing to modify if I have to to make it work.

My guess from seeing this kind of problem many times over decades, is that something became unseated, pulled loose, or a wire broken at the back of a contact, or there is a spread contact in a connector so that when taping wires they changed the angle the wire pulls at the contact, and so doesn't make contact (or not full contact) anymore.Aussie-guy said:cable sorting taping and the like.

Pulled all the wiring out and checked the connectors, might have to de-glue the connector (added too much to the back of the plug to unplug it) and try the spare hall connector tomorrow.
It does, if you get an error on the display, it comes from the controller.The thing I found weird was the control doesn’t see an error.

It's gonna weigh a tonne, won't offroad well, won't look like a bicycle on the road, and won't be as cheap as you think it will be
There's still ways to do the build you want to do but qs273 on trails/offroad isn't it
