I have the same tire on a 1" rim, it has held up for over a thousand miles. I should use a wider rim like I have on the back of my bike. On the 1" rim I cannot get the valve stem to come out all the way, just the stem threads come thru the hole. I am using an extra thick tube that is reinforced at the base of the valve stem. Outside measurement, where the brake pads grab is exactly 1". The tire does have a soft spot in this area, more of a slight deformation due to the tube not being able to seat correctly. Keep meaning to change that rim, probably won't until it fails,
