I'm in a bind. I have a Trek FX+ bike, but the thing constantly goes dead if I don't remember to charge it often and properly, especially during the winter because I store the bike in the garage.

Every time I take it to my Trek dealer, it takes them two weeks to bring a windows laptop in and hook it up to charge and diagnose. I'm sick of being down a bike for two weeks every time i let the battery discharge too much.

I got a bright idea that I was going to buy one of the Bicycle Interface Boxes from my Trek dealer, so here I am $250 later and it didn't come with any software or anything.

Any ideas on where I can get access to the Trek or Bionx software to make this $250 BIB something other than a paperweight?

your trek dealer sold it to you?

i have seen screen shots of the software online for the control software but i had not heard of anyone able to buy the bib.

good luck... if i find the software i will let you know... can you tell me the dealer name so i can get a bib ... i am wanting to create a new console interface to my iphone but need a bib to try to map out the commands passed from console to battery and hub.

Sell it and build your own.
Seriously.
You're stuck in a proprietary system that's designed to milk you for cash with that BionX system. And it is no more reliable than all the chinese stuff we're running.

I've built 3 electric Treks from eBike kits and various bits and pieces.. all drastically cheaper.. all drastically more powerful.. all with drastically more range.. see my signature!

This is the software as provided by bionx to dealers. It doesn't really offer much in the way of configuration beyond the options that bionx allows you to change. It also provides for the download/install of new firmware. I used it last night to connect our fairly new bionx motor to my laptop and update the firmware/view details.

There is another software out there that I've seen linked to in forums (unfortunately links no longer work) and have seen screenshots for that allows for much more configuration. I've heard it referred to as EPS Bike Interface software. Screenshot here: http://visforvoltage.org/sites/default/files/u6806/bikedaten_details_ohne_serial_0.JPG

It was available from KTM ebikes at some point.

I spent hours recently trying to find it online but have had zero luck. I can find random mentions of the software and the occasional screenshot, but no installers.

Thanks, I will investigate. Hopefully it will turn my cable into something more than a paperweight.

Just found a hardware unlocker sold by a company in Germany called Prochip that mainly does car stuff. Expensive. $15 euro shipping to US.

It sounds like the problem is not something you're going to fix with software. I have disassembled one of those before. All the cells were at 0 Volts... Ouch. Bad BMS.

The BMS is faulty. Keep the thing charged as much as possible or somehow replace it.
