Turn signals?

I had a set of those when I was a kid (a long time ago), can't remember much about them but I have a feeling that the arrows did not blink.
I use a set of led bike indicators that I got of ebay. I just tossed the original leds (they were fine for night use but I needed daytime visability) and fitted the brightest leds I could find in their place, they give you flashing indicators, a central red tail light and brake lights with switch for brake cable. The central tail light is more for indicator seperation.
They have a nice indicator, tail light handle bar switch.
Been running for a year now no problems, I think I have changed the batteries once.
The brand of mine are Xingcheng.

Tried something really similar as a kid, I have to say "meh" to that.
Better way to go at signaling: Say you want to merge left, well then obviously you signal left, but arm signals alone don't get much reaction. So, what you do is turn your head to the left as if you didn't have a mirror. For some reason cars are a lot more likely to let you merge if you do it that way. Or at least, that's how it works in Québec city, though as usual your mileage may vary.

That's almost the opposite of NYC... taxis will slow for you if you have not made eye contact (or do not let-on that you have seen them). If they see that you have seen them, they will not slow at all. Works with bikes or pedestrians.
