Upgrading Ordica Neo Mid Drive

I have an Ordica Neo 2020 mid drive bike . The motor is a “Middle Motor” TSDZ DC36V 3200 RPM. Motor ID : M20C42ABC00165.

I would like to : upgrade the digital display and install a throttle.

What specifically do you want to "upgrade" about the display? Without knowing what you want to be different about it, it's tough to make any recommendations.


Possible caveats:

There are several systems with "TSDZ" as part of their name. Which specific one do you have? There is TSDZ2, TSDZ8, and possibly others (probably also an original TSDZ version).

Different ones may be compatible only with certain parts, and some may not have the firmware to read a throttle or communicate with a different display than supplied with it.

Also, it's not uncommon for OEM bike manufacturers to use customized firmware in their versions of the systems that is incompatible with "standard" parts available separately. So you could find that the drive on yours might not work with a different display unless that comes from the bike manufacturer as an option for that specific bike.


In these cases, if yours can accept the opensource firmware, you may be able to use that and then any display that firmware version supports (which may also have to be flashed with it's version of the OSF). Search results for query: TSDZ2 open

What size display does it have now?

(If you know which model it already is, that may tell us size, as well as what features it has, to be sure the new one can do the same things, assuming there *is* a compatible display available for it).

I have a TSDZ2/TSDZ2B middrive. I went to their TSE website and it does show a TSDZ3 motor. Is this what you have? If so, you will see they have two pages of displays,

My kits use the VLDC5. It's the default monochrome display for the TSDZ2 and is clunky, but cheap and easy to read. However, before you run off to search aliexpress for one of those displays, there is a question of whether it will fit your bike's harness, whether it has the right firmware to work with your motor. But you can contact TSE and ask, but I suspect they don't want to talk to a user.

As for throttle, on my motor, the controller electronics has solder pads (three - power, ground, and signal) for a throttle. They wire up the harness when the throttle is used, and leave it empty when it's not used. Probably the same philosophy for the TSDZ3, but you would have to search the board yourself. It's too easy to fry a controller on a nice bike if you're the first person to go this route.

The throttle on my TSDZ2 is a convenience, There are days I never touch it,

Your display looks like an upside down VLDC7 from the TSE website,. The spec says communications is either Canbus or Uart. That's a complication right there. You have to get a display that runs the same protocol.

Yes, the controller is inside the motor, I wouldn't know any more.

Guys , can you recommend a lightweight ( I am 85Kg and 172cm ) E-bike for use on 80% hard surface / 20% gravel with the battery either included in the down tube or mounted under the rear carrier. It must have a LARGE digital display and a THROTTLE. Some rear suspension would be good as well. I am not sure if I will trade in or sell privately. Thanks.
